Thanks for the comments guys! I'm also excited about Jio Mier and I think I like Nick Franklin more than Triunfel at this point. There is one book I read however called the Minor League Baseball Analyst, from Baseball HQ that ranks Triunfel as the #2 SS prospect.

Dee Gordon was certainly worthy of sharing the MWL MVP. Saw him a couple times here when the Loons visited the Timber Rattlers. Speed. Wow.

No love for Triunfel huh? I can understand that. I'd read some of the same things about his attitude. He's still a kid though.

I remember the greatest (i.e. my favorite) Timber Rattler of all time (Matthew Tuiasosopo) in 2005 missing a couple weeks with a cut up hand because he punched it through a locker room door window. But he was only 19 at the time.

And last year Tui tore up the Cactus League and made the club out of Spring Training and will be vying for a utility infield spot this year.

Maybe that's part of it with Triunfel. So much talent, but so much given to him at such a young age. He also can't seem to stay healthy.

He was only up here for about a month before he broke is hand/wrist. Then upon returning was sent out to the Cali League.

Maybe with a healthy year and some maturity he'll finally put it all together.

Good list though. Good read.

I'm excited to see what Jio Mier does in his first full pro season. And I agree that Triunfel is overrated.
