College Baseball Top 25: 2.28.11

We're just two weekends into the College Baseball season and each team is still working to develop their own identity. We observe as some teams seemingly effortlessly put it together while others are stumbling out of the gate. Omaha virgin Vanderbilt began the season with an aggressive #4 but they've more than proved that they belong with their strong start as they won a huge non-league series against Stanford over the weekend.

2011 MLB Team Preview - Boston Red Sox

Key Additions---Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Bobby Jenks

Key Losses---Victor Martinez, Adrian Beltre

Lineup---It is pretty obvious that the additions of AGon and Crawford are absolutely huge benefits to this lineup, however

Every weekend Prospect Junkies will be keeping tabs on the performances of the Top College Baseball Prospects and feeding their stats and our insights into one convenient place.

There are a number of key matchups this week among our top 25 teams. #6 Stanford travels to #3 Vanderbilt for a true benchmark series for these two Omaha hopefuls. Of course, one could argue that Stanford just came out on top of a benchmark series last weekend when they took 2 of 3 on the road against Rice.

2011 MLB Mock Draft 2.0

**Update: Final Mock Draft from 6.5.11 posted here.*

Here we are a month after our first MLB Mock Draft and we still don't have a significant amount of credible information to go on. However, with the first weekend of college baseball in the books at least we know who's hot and who's not. Alright here comes the disclaimer. If you're reading this I'm sure you're aware that while this mock is certain to contain some enlightening and fascinating information, it's still entirely too early to be reliable or accurate.

College Baseball Top 25: 2.21.11

Do you ever have that thing in your life that you look forward to for months? You build something up in your mind for so long and you get so excited about it, and then it fails to deliver? Well the college baseball season doesn't do that to you. Sure a game here or a series there might be a flop, but there is so much content and so many stories to get excited about.

The stories that unfolded over the weekend didn't develop overnight. The seeds were planted last June when many of todays college stars were drafted. After a summer of negotiating we focus on what's left of blue chip recruiting classes and the handful of juniors and draft eligible sophomores that decided to return to school.

College Baseball Preview 2011

The wait is over folks! The college baseball season is upon us and it couldn't come soon enough. If you're sick of hearing about a possible NFL work stoppage or a contract extension may make Albert Pujols the richest old man in baseball by the time the deal matures, then belly up to the computer this weekend and follow some collegiate athletics in it's purest form.

As you prepare for the glorious event that is opening weekend, perhaps it would be beneficial to bone up on the College Preview information that we've been providing to you over the past several weeks.

College Baseball: 2011 Preseason Freshman All-American Team

Predicting a Freshman All-American team is about as premature as a Mock Draft at this point in the year but hey, they're fun. I'm really excited about this year's freshman class, thanks in large part to the two unsigned first round picks (Karsten Whitson and Dylan Covey). Austin Wilson was also a clear first round talent who slid for signability reasons due to his strong college commitment.
