Our top team since winning a series against Vanderbilt a few weeks ago, South Carolina finally dropped a series this season as Mississippi took two of three from the Gamecocks. The benefactor of Mississippi's triumph is the Virginia Cavaliers, who become our forth team to sit atop our top 25 despite having the weekend off for final exams.
Florida, a former #1 team their own right, lost just their second series of the year as Arkansas took two of three from the Gators. I've only dropped them to #5, and they'll travel to Nashville to face Vanderbilt in one of the most anticipated weekends of the year.
Next weekend's Top 25 v. Top 25 action:
#5 Florida @ #2 Vanderbilt
#17 Miami (FL) @ #1 Virginia
#15 North Carolina @ #13 Georgia Tech
| Rank | Team | W-L | Last Week | Previous | Comments |
| 1. | Virginia | 43-5 | 1-0 @ VCU | 2 | It took a weekend off and a Gamecock series loss to make the Cavaliers our forth #1 team of the season. |
| 2. | Vanderbilt | 40-6 | 2-1 @ Kentucky | 3 | Alex Meyer beat the Sonny Gray and shut out the Dores for the first time of the year on Friday night, but Vanderbilt won the series. |
| 3. | Oregon State | 34-11 | 0-1 v. Oregon, 2-1 v. California | 5 | Strong series win against Cal who was #19 entering the weekend. Beavers putting together a strong resume. |
| 4. | South Carolina | 37-10 | 1-0 @ Wofford, 1-2 @ Mississippi | 1 | After hanging their hat on series wins @ Florida and against Vanderbilt, I wouldn't have guessed Mississippi would have given the Gamecocks their first series loss of the season. |
| 5. | Florida | 36-12 | 1-0 v. Bethune-Cookman, 1-2 @ Arkansas | 4 | I'm liberally only dropping the Gators one spot as Arkansas is a good (not great) team and if I were betting on the 2011 National Champion, Florida would be in the top 5 teams I'd put money one. |
| 6. | Texas | 36-12 | 1-0 v. Prairie View A&M, 2-1 @ Nebraska | 6 | Gearing up for the MLB Draft, Jr. RHP Taylor Jungmann is 11-0 with a 0.92 ERA. |
| 7. | Arizona State | 35-11 | 1-1 v. BYU, 3-0 v. Long Beach State | 7 | The Sun Devils bat's went off this weekend accounting for 32 runs. |
| 8. | Florida State | 36-12 | 1-0 @ Jacksonville, 2-1 v. UCF. | 8 | Ace Sean Gilmartin's win on Friday was the 29th of his college career. |
| 9. | Texas A&M | 32-16 | 0-1 @ UTSA, 2-1 v. Dallas Baptist | 9 | Aggies will host Nebraska next weekend, then will travel to Texas to close out the regular season. |
| 10. | TCU | 33-14 | 2-1 @ Oklahoma State | 10 | The Purkeless Horned Frogs have resurrected their season after a slow start. |
| 11. | Cal State Fullerton | 33-13 | 3-0 v. UC Riverside | 11 | Noe Ramirez, Dylan Floro and Nick Ramirez combined for a 2 hitter on Friday night. |
| 12. | Southern Mississippi | 36-11 | 1-0 @ South Alabama, 3-0 v. UAB | 12 | Senior Todd McInnis gives the Golden Eagles a legit chance to take a crucial game against a higher profile ace in the post season. |
| 13. | Georgia Tech | 33-14 | 2-0 v. Illinois-Chicago | 13 | Rare Saturday, Sunday, Monday series for Tech but Pope and Bradley took care of business in the first two. |
| 14. | Oklahoma | 35-13 | 1-0 @ Arkansas-Little Rock, 3-0 v. Kansas | 15 | Riding a 5 game winning streak, the Sooners are actually the hottest team in the Big 12. |
| 15. | North Carolina | 37-10 | 1-0 v. Gardner-Webb, 3-0 v. Maryland | 16 | Senior Patrick Johnson (8-1, 3.10) has provided answers to a team that entered the season with pitching questions. Freshman Kent Emanuel (6-1, 2.73) has solidified the Saturday role. |
| 16. | Stetson | 37-10 | 3-0 v. Florida Gulf Coast | 17 | Hatters have won 6 in a row and will face #8 Florida State in midweek action on Tuesday. |
| 17. | Miami | 31-16 | 2-1 v. Hofstra | 21 | Canes will travel to Virginia to take on the #1 Cavaliers next weekend. |
| 18. | Clemson | 32-15 | 3-0 v. Gardner-Webb | 24 | This potent Clemson offense is clicking on all cylinders after stumbling out of the gate. |
| 19. | Connecticut | 33-13 | 2-0 v. South Florida | 25 | Red hot Huskies have won 15 of their last 16. |
| 20. | Oklahoma State | 31-15 | 1-2 v. TCU | 18 | Cowboys will be in Columbus this week for a two game stint against the Buckeyes. |
| 21. | California | 28-15 | 1-2 v. Oregon State | 19 | No shame in dropping 2 of 3 to the Beavers. |
| 22. | Stanford | 25-16 | 3-0 v. Washington | 22 | Stanford will face Arizona next weekend. |
| 23. | UCLA | 27-16 | 1-0 v. Pepperdine, 3-0 v. Oregon | 20 | Trevor Bauer has now tossed 5 straight complete games! |
| 24. | Arkansas | 32-15 | 2-1 v. Florida | NR | Huge series win as Arkansas attempts to take control of the SEC West. |
| 25. | Arizona | 30-16 | 3-0 v. Alcorn State | 23 | Wildcats have had a good season despite 9-9 conference record. |
Dropped Out: Fresno State
